This
is one of the Shiva and Vishnu Temples built on the banks of the holy river Adyar,
after it comes through the Meenambakkam airport, at Manapakkam, an old settlement
in Chennai metropolitan area. The temple was completely replaced with a new
structure built in recent years.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple faces east with balipeedam and Garudan. The Temple tank is on the front
side of the temple. Moolavar Sri Kariamanicka Perumal is with Sridevi Bhudevi.
Utsava murtis are in front of the moolavar. There is no murtis in koshtam.
In
Praharam Kanakavalli Thayar, Kubera alwar ( Vinayagar ), Sri Lakshmi
Hayagreevar, Andal, Hanuman Stucco image about 25 feet tall and idol.
ARCHITECTURE
The
temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and Mukha
mandapam. The sanctum Sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with threepatta
kumudam. The Koshtams are empty now. A 2 tier vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum
sanctorum. The complete temple was built with bricks. Stucco images of Maha Vishnu’s avatars and Dakshinamurthy are
on the Vimanam tala koshtams. Similar to Tirupati, Sri Venkatesa Perumal’s
stucco image painted in Golden colour is on the Greeva Koshtam, facing North.
One
of the specialities of this temple is the Hanuman in worshipping posture / anjali
hastam is about 20 feet tall facing south.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
It
was said that the original temple existed since ancient times and was reconstructed
in recent years.
Noothana Ashtabandhana Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 16th June 2014.
LEGENDS
It
is believed that worshipping Lakshmi Hayagreevar will excel in studies. Hence Lakshmi Hayagreevar maha yagam will be conducted annually.

Apart
from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Vaikunta Ekadasi, Puratasi
Saturdays, Navaratri, Krishna Jayanthi, Hanuman Jayanthi, Lakshmi Hayagreeva
maha yagam, etc,.
