The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and ardha mandapam. The Sanctum Sanctorum is on a simple pada bandha adhistanam with jagathi, three patta kumudam, and pattikai. The Koshtas are sala-type padra koshtas ( little protruding outside) on a prati bandha adhistanam, with jagathi, vrutha kumudam and Vyyalavari. The Bhitti starts with vedika. Virudha pilasters are on both sides of the koshtas and other pilasters are Vishnu kantha pilasters with square bases, kalasam, kudam, plain mandi, palakai, and Tharanga pothyal. The Prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam with Chandra mandalam and Vyyalavari. The eka tala bricks Vimanam on the sanctum sanctorum may have been constructed in recent years.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple might have been built during the Chozha period in the Pallava style. The Rajendra period inscription of the South side wall starts with his meikeerthi as Thirumanni Valera… And the inscription also mentions Rajathiya Grakathu Aadi Arulina Peruman…

Considering the  Thakkolam war happened near this place, Rajathitha Chozha was killed in the war and the inscription mentions Rajathitha’s name, this temple may be a Pallipadai temple as per the experts.

The Koshta murtis do not belong to the Chozha Period and Dwarapalakas are also missing. The temple was reconstructed after Chozhas.
